Beginner
Trails
- Defined by a smooth trail surface, slight
slopes, shallow fords and changes in elevation up to 400
m.
- There are five main beginner trails in
the West Country: Riverside Park in Rocky, the trail from
Rocky to Crimson Lake, Crimson
Lake's Amerada Trail (10 km trail around the lake),
the 40 km
Glacier Trail from the Siffleur Falls suspension bridge
to the Saskatchewan River Crossing, and the trail from the
community of Rocky to the National Historic Site.

Intermediate Trails
- Defined by: rough spots on the trail
surface, a moderate slope requiring some pushing and knee
deep fords. A rise in elevation of between 200 - 600 m.
- There are five intermediate trails in
the West Country: the Horburg
River Access to the Phoenix Whistle Stop (10 km); Chambers
Creek snowmobile trail; Saunders
River Access to Alexo; Crescent Falls to Sunday Creek;
and the Kootenay Plains.

Expert Trails:
- Defined by very rough spots along the
trail surface, long or steep slopes requiring bikes to be
pushed along 20 % or the trails length, a rise in elevation
over 500 m, and thigh deep fords.
- There are four such trails in the West
Country; Nordegg Mine Site (30 km loop), Snow Creek (15
km loop),
Baseline Mountain Lookout (20 km), and the Pinto
Lake trail from the Cline River.
